Pencils
Graphite was first discovered in England around the year 1564, with pencils being made shortly thereafter. 200 years later, a major breakthrough took place when clay was added to the graphite and the mixture was fired in a kiln. This new method allowed pencils to be made in any hardness or softness as deemed necessary by the artists and draftsman of the time. Erasers made of rubber were first put in use around 1770, but the rubber would spoil much like food does. In 1839, Charles Goodyear discovered a way to cure the rubber, making it a long lasting and useful material.
Most of the Parker® Style ballpoint pens can be used as pencils if you select pencil lead as the ink. Please be sure to select either the 0.5mm or 0.7mm lead in the ink option to ensure you get it as a pencil! The European Black Top and the regular Cigar style have a specific pencil style if you'd like one that isn't a ballpoint conversion.
The "Power" Pencil has a virtually unbreakable 2mm lead. Perfect if your heavy hand destroys those thin .5mm mechanical pencil leads. Also includes a lead sharpener in the cap end and 5 long lasting replacement leads.
