Fountain Pens
Ink-filled writing instruments have been around for literally thousands of years, but it wasn’t until 1884 that Lewis Waterman patented the first practical fountain pen. With no moving parts, the genius of the fountain pen is in its simplicity. Coupled with high quality stationary, writing with your handcrafted fountain pen is nearly effortless as it glides across the page. Ink begins to flow due to capillary action as soon as the tip touches the paper, thus very little pressure from the hand is required to write allowing you to write for greater lengths of time with less hand fatigue.
A joy to write with, fountain pens are easily refilled simply by replacing the disposable international-sized ink cartridge. We offer over 20 different colors of high quality Private Reserve® ink to choose from. If bottled ink is preferred, an ink converter pump is also available. The solid steel German-made writing end, or nib as it’s called, features an iridium point for long lasting service and is plated with gold, rhodium or both depending on the model selected. The standard steel nib is medium point, however for a nominal fee we can replace it with your choice of Extra Fine, Fine, Broad, or Caligraphy point sizes.
Note: The larger sized Waterman® refill cartridges will fit the Ultra/Cambridge or Churchill style fountain pens.
We offer a wide variety of fine writing instruments handcrafted from rare and exotic wood from around the world, plus eye-catching domestic woods too.
